Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Tyler

About Our Congregation

Adult RE/Forums:
First Sunday – On Their Shoulders: UU history
Third Sunday – Pathways: Exploring our personal spiritual paths
Second and Fourth Sundays - Tai Chi and Qigong

There is no RE program in place for children at this time, as we usually have no children in attendance. Childcare will be provided during the service if needed.

What to expect during a worship service:
Adult RE/Forums begin at 10:00. Worship services start at 11:00. Those not attending RE/Forums start gathering around 10:30 for coffee and conversation.

Elements of the worship service include hymns, readings, a time for silent meditation (usually about two minutes) and a talk/presentation/sermon. We light a candle in a chalice, the symbol of Unitarian Universalism. We pass the baskets to receive an offering, which will sometimes go to designated local charities. The congregation is asked to stand “in body or spirit” during some readings and hymns.

We use chairs in the sanctuary instead of pews so it is easy to arrange seating for various functions. This also makes it easy to have plenty of space for wheelchairs.

On the first Sunday of the month, we have a potluck lunch after the worship service.
